Establishing the current capability of staff is a key step to implementing any information sharing. More often than not, this comes down to whether staff feel confident about what to do when they receive a request to share information.
The IISaM project developed a short assessment (link below) which can be used to assess staff confidence. It is important that those who complete it are honest about their confidence levels, so should perhaps fill it out anonymously to ensure they are not concerned about negative consequences to their responses.
Alternatively, you can use the test to establish confidence before a training session, then use it to track post-training improvements.
