Phil Swan, director of iNetwork, has recently written an interesting blog on the LGA Knowledge Hub about the increasing importance of effectively sharing personal information, particularly when local partners are working together to deliver services. He says some nice things about IISaM, too *blush*. Here’s a snippet:
whilst information sharing does work well between health and social care in some localities, there is a wide spectrum of practice ranging that includes flat refusal to share any information regardless of legal compliance. Unfortunately there are also situations where information sharing is occurring without due recognition of the law, often based on a good personal relationship between two individuals. This risk similarly needs to be addressed and a balance needs to be found between sharing and protecting.
