Devolution

The devolution of power from national to local government is happening in areas across England allowing decisions to be made closer to the people, communities and businesses that they will affect. The theory is that this will result in more effective, better targeted public services allowing greater growth and prosperity and stronger partnerships between the public, private and third sector organisations within the local area.

This shift from national to local and the need for local partnerships to be formed and consolidated brings with it its own information sharing issues, which need to be resolved before the real devolution work can start in earnest.
